How Can You Maximize YouTube Safety with Effective Parental Control Options?
N

Hi, this is Naman. I have been working as a digital marketer for a while and sharing information with users situated all around the world. You can go through my blogs and develop an understanding of what I have to offer.

Parents often don’t mind their kids exploring the YouTube app, presuming these little minds are not grown enough to dig into something inappropriate.

Though it’s fact fully true, being a parent, you still can’t take a risk.

Children even by accident can encounter content that can be harmful to their immature minds, thus, implementing YouTube parental controls is needed.

You can get help from this write-up to learn how one can set up YouTube parental control features.

How to Enable YouTube’s Restricted Mode?

YouTube’s Restricted Mode helps you restrict the availability of potentially mature or objectionable content on the platform.

Here’s how you can place in various devices used by your children:

On Smartphone

To enable the Restricted mode on Android & iOS smartphones, here are the steps you need to follow:

  • Install the YouTube app, and log in to your account.

  • Now, go to the top right, and select the Profile button.

  • Select Settings >> General.

  • Now, scroll down and turn Restricted Mode ‘ON

On Desktop

You can follow these steps to have the restricted mode on your Desktop screen:

  • Go to the YouTube app on your Browser, and log in to it.

  • Now, select the profile picture >> Restricted Mode.

  • Then, select Activate Restricted Mode to turn it ‘On’.

On a Smart TV

Looking for steps to set restricted mode on a big screen?

Here you have it:

  • Open the YouTube app on your smart TV, and go to the sidebar menu.

  • Now, go to Settings, open Restricted mode and turn the button On.

Useful Advice: Don't set and forget - keep in mind to review and update the settings regularly to ensure they are still effective and relevant.

How to Set Up YouTube’s Supervised Account?

Supervised accounts are linked to a parent's own Google Account which allows them to select a content setting that limits the videos and music children under 13 can play.

To place it, you must first install the Family Link app on the devices often used by your kids and continue with their Google Supervised account.

Here you go:

  • Login to the YouTube app using your child’s supervised account.
  • Select Settings >> Parent Settings >> Manage Settings for Your Kids.

  • Next, choose YouTube and YouTube Music to manage mature content.

Here, you are all done!!
Now, with these two modes ‘On’, you may take a sigh of relief knowing your kids are not watching anything inappropriate on the YouTube app.
